HOME INTENT.
DESIGN + BUILD FUNCTIONAL SCULPTURES.
Each part of a building should be given the consideration that it is a sculpture in itself. The function of each part, the location in the world, and the project budget, are all considered and balanced in each decision. Structural elements are exposed, proportions balanced, openings large, materials solid and finishes real. The result is that occupying the space is enjoyable, it functions efficiently and is durable to time both physically and stylistically.

ABOUT INK HOMES.
Having a degree in art history, with emphasis in sculpture, I entered the field of architecture working for boutique architecture firms Scott Mitchell Studio and Studio PCH, followed by real estate development firms Nick Hadim Group and Roundhouse. These day jobs required long hours, sometimes all night to make deadlines. The work was limited creatively, and heavy on project management. In 2009 renovating my own home in the West Adam’s neighborhood of LA was a side/evening/weekend project that I used to satisfied my desire to be in complete creative control. I was doing the physical work myself, which I enjoy more than managing others. I already had a lot of building experience from childhood, university, and my career, but that knowledge grew with each project as I worked through new challenges and mastered more materials and trades. Realizing that my renovations added value to the property allowed me to continue the process of renovating additional properties. By leveraging my knowledge of mortgage financing, which I learned working in real estate development, I was able to buy additional properties over the years and continue to feed my desire to keep designing and building. I've lived in each home of which there are now three in the greatest neighborhoods of Los Angeles, and three in the best barrios of Barcelona. Here are summaries of the homes in each city and info on neighborhoods.

Design to fit the space and function needed using materials readily available. Furniture designed to be assemble yourself following in the path of my favorite artists Donald Judd.

ABOUT INK FURNISH.
Building furniture has always been integral to my house design. I often build using left over wood, found furniture and materials. I re-purpose and design to make use of what I have to turn it into something I can use. This passion is in progress and future updates will be found here.

INK ART INTENT.

ART FOR LOVE + HOBBY, AND SOMETIMES FOR SALE.
Scale, relativity and interconnection, these are the concepts that intrigue me and I attempt to illustrate and interweave in my visual journal of travel, exploration and individual growth.

ABOUT INK ART.

My work has evolved from a visual journal that I began when I was twelve to document the experiences in life that inevitably fade from memory. It was not important to me what I drew, simply that I was drawing would create a mark for the moment in which it was done. I work with pen so that there is no erasing of any mark; the ink becomes a permanent part of the book. I work chronologically through the book so there is some reference of time, but I also go back through the book and add to every drawing so that every drawing reflects a complex layering of experiences that become one cohesive image. This imitates the process by which human develop unique and complex identities. The collection of journal pages I have now covers nine years and travels throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Spain, Italy, Egypt, London Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, and Bratislava.

To discover what is just around the corner and enjoy the journey. We should both share and limit the information we share. Share information so that other like minded individuals can benefit and build a community with synergy. Limit information shared to protect some unknowns and maintain some mystery in the adventure of life.

ABOUT INK TRAVEL.
I work in progress to provide a modern functional and attractive picnic set, plus a travel guide for where to find the best sunsets and bodegas to restock your picnic food in various places around the world. This way you can find the perfect spot, with the best food, and compliment it with the perfect picnic set.

It’s not enough to build something beautiful. Equal care must go into the continued maintenance and improvement. If something breaks then take the opportunity to build it back better.


ABOUT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT.

Managing rental properties started casually and relatively easy when I was only renting the extra bedroom in the first house I renovated, or even a bit later when I was renting out the entire house while still living on site in the converted garage studio. Tenants always became friends and communication could be fluid. Since then it’s become more complicated but my biggest pleasure is still having positive interactions with the people that live in my homes, and the individuals that I work with to build, maintain and repair them. The property management topic is organized according to users and type of content.
