Having a degree in art history, with an emphasis in sculpture, and an architect as a mother, I was warned not to go into architecture. Nonetheless I ended up working for a landscape architect/DJ, followed by 5 years in a boutique architecture firm. Realizing my mom was right, there is no money in working for an architect unless you have money to start your own firm, I obtained a certificate in construction management from UCLA and transitioned into a real estate development. I worked for a small developer converting downtown LA warehouses to artist lofts, and gained 5 years experience with a young innovative startup company developing commercial and residential projects throughout LA and the Midwest.
